Babysitter anyone?
In a southern paper an individual who wants a person to take care of children, advertises for one whose patience is inexhaustible, whose vigilance is unwinking, whose tongue is tireless, whose expedients to please are boundless, whose foresight is unequalled, whose industry is matchless, and whose neatness is unparalleled!

Lots of Beer!
A few weeks since we published an account of the bursting of the Great Vat at Mr. Meux's Brewery, London, overthrowing by the liquor many houses, and causing the deaths of several persons -- the following is a description of that Vat.
"The Vat built by Messrs. Meux at their Porter Brewery in Liverpool street, London, is 25 feet depth, 75 feet diameter, and 195 feet circumference, and will contain 20,000 barrels of beer at 36 gallons each, which are 720,000 gallons -- a size much greater than has been attempted before, and more than fourteen times larger than the celebrated Heidelburg Tun, so often mentioned by travellers as one of the wonders of Europe, containing 800 hogsheads or 50,400 gallons.
The cost estimated in building by Messrs. Meux is upwards of 10,000l. sterling, and when charged with beer to be worth 35,000l. sterling. The hoops weighed from 1 1-4 to 2 ton each, the weight of iron of the whole may be computed at 87 tons.
This memorandum was taken on the 2nd May, 1795, by a gentleman who was shewn the Brewery by Mr. Meux, and from the estimates of the persons employed in building it."
